Busy Week

This past week was a productive one. Andy filled the back of the truck with wood to give it more traction in the snow when he plows:

The well driller installed the new lid for our well house (now being painted):

And Joe managed to get all of the permits we need for the septic system, house, and shed and dug the trenches for the house foundation:

The plan for this week was for Joe to put the rebar in and get approval from the building inspector to pour the concrete so we could order the shed. Unfortunately we had a bit of snow this weekend and there’s a winter storm watch for tonight, so who knows?

Looks like National Weather Service is calling for 40% scattered snow showers for you. I’m hoping, for you, that it’ll be 100% scattered to somewhere else.

We’re supposed to have a slight of severe weather and 90% chance of thunderstorms tomorrow when we drive to Little Rock to get our car serviced and spend part of the day with daughter Mel and her hubbie.

Nice pics on your photostream. I have to quit now (after 1,000 pics LOL). I’m going to eat breakfast.

    beautiful pictures monk!
what a neat little well house. we had a well house once and every single time bob went out of town, the darn pump stopped. and… i could not budge the door by myself. it weighed a ton. so even though he’d told me what to do in case… never got it done! thank goodness for a strong, friendly neighbor.
too bad it took so long to get up there… all the days of closure and red tape, etc… when the weather was good.
now the weather is not your friend!
hold off the snow for little monk, old man winter. hold off the snow!
    love,

    Mike,
It was raw up there today but they got a lot of the rebar in. Andy thinks 1 1/2 days is enough to get the house and the shed ready for pouring concrete. We’re still keeping our fingers crossed about the weather and the building inspector.

Hope you have a good visit with your daughter and her husband.

    bikehikebabe,
Andy took 11 more pictures today. Most are of putting in the rebar, but two show how they covered the site for the shed and the house so the ground doesn’t freeze. The pictures start at http://www.flickr.com/photos/8185675@N07/6324664580/

    tammy,
Thanks! Yes, Andy and I have been watching the weather for a long time now and are well aware of the gorgeous days when nothing happened.

    Evan,
    Thanks.

Congrats and getting the things moving and up. I loved the images with snow. Want to experience snow, at least once in a life time. Thanks for sharing the pics.

  7. Rummuser says:

Great progress indeed. Now things will move with speed and before you know it, it will all be over and you will say, “phew”!

  8. bikehikebabe says:

With all the pictures, I will know how to build a house.

  9. Jean says:

    Rosalia,
Where do you live? I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and didn’t see my first snow until I was a teen. I still remember how exciting that was. This year, of course, we hope it holds off. 🙂

    Rummuser,
We’re not taking anything for granted but are enjoying the process and celebrating small steps. That’s especially true for me right now. I’ll have more work to do/decisions to make about the inside when the house is framed in. In the meantime I’m on vacation and having fun.

It does look as if Andy might get his heated shed before winter sets in.

    bikehikebabe,
Andy took six more pictures of them putting in more rebar today. The pictures start at http://www.flickr.com/photos/8185675@N07/6328159986/

I do love Flickr! It’s a great way of keeping Kaitlin (and anyone else who might be interested) up to date about what’s going on up there. The pictures are much higher quality than anything I could send by e-mail.

Andy took a lot of pictures while we were having the first house built, and they helped a lot with the insurance.
