As I wrote last Thursday, we made a lot of progress last week. The stems walls are now done and Joe plans to go up tomorrow to pack the dirt around the outside of the house as well as level and compact the dirt on the inside. He and his crew will also bend down the rebar and add more to prepare inside of the house for a concrete slab floor. (That area is covered at the moment to keep the ground from freezing.) He hopes to get approval from the building inspector Wednesday so he can, weather permitting, pour the slab the following week.
If the weather cooperates the Tuff Shed crew will start building the shed Tuesday. Again, whatever happens it should be interesting.
Hope things are going well with you. Kaitlin and Torben are coming tomorrow and will fly back Saturday Friday. Do you have any plans for Thanksgiving?
It is nice to see photographic record of the progress being made. My thanksgiving is up every Saturday and this Friday, the LBC will also be posting on Gratitude as the topic. What a coincidence!
oh my! it’s really starting to look like a little house now.
i think “shed” is not nearly descriptive enough for such a brave little house in such a magnificient setting.
i don’t suppose andy would find the thrill in naming his “shed.”
i have named my cottage “wee blink bonny” meaning in scottish of course, small pretty place.
bob, though he loved me dearly, would never have put up with that. men apparently don’t live in wee pretty cottages!

thanksgiving is not a predominant celebration in New Zealand…I don’t think I have ever heard of any of my network doing it either.
but I’m sure you will have a grand ole time with your family down to see you…
your rebuilding looks like it’s going quite well, considering there must be others in the area also doing a similar thing…
things are going pretty good here right now…I’m just waiting for the last thing to move from “pending” to “completed” before I announce my plans for 2012 and beyond 🙂

It should look even neater when they put the dirt back. It looked neatest before they poured the concrete into the styrofoam and covered it with hay.
