I don’t believe that Australia should be expected to apologise for reasonable intelligence-gathering operations, just as I don’t expect other countries or other governments to apologise for their reasonable intelligence-gathering operations.
—-Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott
Indonesia has recalled its ambassador to Australia because it found out Australia had spied on the phone calls of Indonesia’s president and ministers. It’s even more upset that PM Abbott won’t apologize.
On a related note, when President Obama goes overseas he brings along his portable zones of secrecy because he knows foregn countries will be trying to listen to his conversations. It’s a rough world out there.
In India, we are not bothered. The whole establishment is unintelligent.
😀
LOLOL!
well. the best reason i’ve heard lately for not being bothered. LOLOL.
the whole mess reminds me of kids in middle school.
who’s telling what on whom . . . only i suppose it’s much more dangerous on the international level. given that any idiot at any time could press “the” button.
oh well.
i choose rummy’s answer for mine too! LOL. sorry. i’m hit with the laughing bug today!
Yes, the idea of Obama huddling in his tent was too good not to share.
So much rides on that little word ‘reasonable’ doesn’t it?
Our newly elected PM is rapidly finding out that governing is a good deal more difficult than issuing press releases critical of the government when in opposition. His handling of the diplomacy has been incredibly ham-fisted; which, given his past is not unexpected.
That’s certainly true — it’s easier to criticize than to be in charge, and thus be the target.
