Andy has been working up on the roof the past few days. He’s wiring up the temperature sensors for the panels.
He has firmly tied the ladder down so it can’t fall and leave him stranded up there.
He couldn’t think of what to get me for Christmas, so I told him pictures from the roof would be great. There’s no way I’m going up there.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

And to you Jean, and Andy of course.
Thanks!
Great views. Nice to see the trees growing. Merry Christmas to you too. Mine is almost over and it has indeed been merry so far.
Sorry Ramana, those trees are burnt & not growing.
However there is SNOW & today is CHRISTMAS! Have a merry one!
It will be a while before we see any trees besides the one Beate and Tim gave Andy. We still haven’t seen any seedlings.
This has been a sunny Christmas here. That’s my favorite kind. I didn’t even put any colored lights up — I do that when it looks gray and dismal.
I wouldn’t mind clambering on to the roof myself (it would be worth it for the views!). I’m quite happy with heights (within reason) but I get acute claustrophobia if I’m in a very narrow corridor or tiny space.
Merry Christmas, Jean!
I’m not sure why I don’t like heights — it’s been that way ever since I was a kid. I haven’t noticed any claustrophobia, but maybe I’ve never been in that small a place. It’s interesting how we’re all different.
i don’t do heights anymore.
a few years ago i tried to hang a picture over a table. i put a hard back chair up as near as i could. still not high enough. then i put a big thick phone book on the chair.
i landed on my left hand and wrist on the porcelain tile by my front door.
no insurance. had to have the wrist set. not fun! so . . .
i don’t climb anything anymore.
the cabin is coming along SO beautifully!!! i can see why you’re both in love with it up there.
merry christmas to you and andy too!
Ooh! I cringed when I just read about it.Do you have health insurance now? Will you be affected much by Obamacare?
i have medicare and united health care now!
i retired at 60 with widow’s benefits and my pension from the state tourism.
my age and service equaled 80. and at 60 you can draw your husband’s s.s.
my blood pressure then was the culprit. 270/160. unreal. should have had a stroke. i think they were afraid i might die at my desk! LOL.
and of course . . . about a year into retirement with no longer an HMO and not being able to afford insurance (the heart problem made it sky high and most of them wouldn’t take me anyway because of it being an existing condition) . . . i broke the hand and wrist. my orthopedic surgeon was WONDERFUL! he said he never set bones anymore – surgery the immediate procedure. he did an amazing job. he would work it around kneading it like bread . . . then x-ray to see if it aligned . . . then knead it more etc.
he got it perfectly. they truly are amazing when they’re that good! and he let me pay him out. he was a lovely man. at one point he even quit charging me for follow up visits! i couldn’t believe it. said “don’t get yourself in trouble!”
he said he owned the clinic. not to worry. he just liked me he said.
how NICE was that!!! renewed my faith in doctors for awhile!
Life is scary without insurance, isn’t it? I’m so glad your orthopedic surgeon was such a competent saint! I’m also thrilled you have insurance coverage now.
I am behind, but then again, I’m ahead – finishing up Boxing Day in New Zealand – the views positively expansive but of a very unusual tree trunk formation 🙂 thanks
I’m sure you are having a great Xmas, you and Andy…together.
I know they are not growing BHB but they sure have character.
Do you think they will fall over at some point in the future or become entangled in new growth, whereby providing “cover” or mulch?
My curious present from the Toy Shop is posted – the box instructions will follow tomorrow as they are quite entertaining!
Do not fooled by EGGS on TOAST….
Were guessing the trees will fall over before they get tangled in new trees. It’s cold and dry up there so they won’t start to rot for a long time.
I read your post about your EGGS with TOAST and I’m still confused — and intrigued. 🙂
