Kaitlin and Torben left about 1:20 yesterday afternoon.
We managed to take a walk in Tsankawi before we took them to Lamy.
The Tsankawi section of Bandelier National Monument is located on State Highway 4 twelve miles from the main section of the park. At Tsankawi you take a 1.5 mile walk along a mesa, viewing cavates, petroglyphs and the Ancestral Pueblo village of Tsankawi.

I’m still processing the pictures from the walk and will probably write more about Tsankawi tomorrow. I was interrupted because the original 78 RPM set of Coleman’s A Christmas Carol I ordered on eBay Christmas Day came this afternoon. Needless to say, Andy was surprised and pleased.
We played the first record (it takes six records, 78 RPMs don’t hold much) and one of the missing pieces was on it — Andy had indeed quoted it correctly. We’re going to record it to MP3 and are trying to get rid of most of the hiss. It turns out 78’s are supposed to have a different stylus than long playing records, which is part of the problem. So we’ll do the best we can with what we have — I will let you know how it turns out. As you can tell, it was quite a day.

What I love about the lower photograph is the belt and braces approach to sartorial splendour of the Conductor! Must be quite a job keeping the trousers up! Pity you could not give us a front view.
Yes. Andy says he’s a belt and suspender man, but he still gets by with just a belt.
I remember my grandmother’s record player from 1900. You see pictures of that with a black & white short haired dog sitting by it.
I can still remember the picture of the record player and the dog listening. We can still find it here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2d/His_Master%27s_Voice.jpg
I’m basically the same, books I order through the lending library system require me to pick up by a certain date – so I rush and get them…then everything else takes a back seat and I dive into it – certain it exactly what I will love!
And if it is – the other partly read books go to “next on list” – often when a reminder comes that is due; I’m astounded to find I haven’t “finished it” at all. Sometimes I can renew, other times other “readers are waiting”
Looks like you had good weather for your visitors and that you got do outdoor sort of things…
We had beautiful weather except for Sunday. I’m happy about that. They said the weather was great while they were on the train, but when they got to Chicago they had to drive home in a snowstorm. It’s still a lot nicer than that here!
