As I wrote in my last post, Andy and I are attracted to pretty pictures. I especially like ones that convey a lot of easily-understood information — for instance, this one of the latest polar vortex. Click on the image to read the corresponding article.
Of course, Kaitlin, Torben and the pups aren’t thrilled about the information conveyed. Their forecast is:
Here our weather is unusual in the opposite direction. Kaitlin’s pussy willow thinks it’s spring already — about a month earlier than normal.
How goes it with you?
February 25, 2014
We’re not getting the full brunt of it, but getting clipped here by the cold fronts after a week or so of nice weather. We’ve got daffodils blooming, but it looks like winter is going to persist well into March, with the month beginning with a chance of sleet and cold rain.
Hopefully the cold won’t hurt the plants that decided to start coming out early. I remember one heavy, wet snow one spring — it broke quite a few branches in leaf. Presumably spring weather will come back in a few weeks?
At least the warmth didn’t last long enough here to fool fruit trees into blossoming. One of Karen’s blog friends in Texas is worried about their peach trees which are all in blossom right now.
We had a shower last evening and it has taken the cold away and as I write this, I am sitting in a light t-shirt as it is just pleasantly cool. I may have to turn the air conditioner on tonight! While our summer is some days off in the future, it is certainly the end of our winter.
I like the idea of shirt-sleeve weather more than having to use the air conditioner. And our summers aren’t nearly as hot as yours are.
I believe Mike has pretty much covered it for me also. I might add however that sometimes life can be cruel when you’re introduced to new weather terms like “polar vortex” and you’re a Southerner. They did note on the national news last night that in the northern tier of states golf courses in many areas may not be accessible for play until perhaps May this year due to the intensity of the cold weather.
May is late! But if you’re like us, the time just zips past.
I’m feeling very cheerful. It’s sunny & will be 62 today. 😀 I’d like not to be affected by the weather, but a gloomy day can bring me down some, especially our house being 62 F.
We’re more profligate than you are. We turn up the heat or air conditioner so we’re comfortable. Anyway, I’m glad it was a good day for you.
A bout of lovely summer weather. Not too hot like it has been and fine rather than rainy.
That’s great.
recently we’ve had spring~like temperatures for several days. trees started to bud.
they will get it tonight.
it’s to get down to 18 degrees.
bitter! with the wind always.
still winter here. 🙂
that really is a pretty map!
Poor trees! I hope they do all right. It’s supposed to cool down a bit here, but not by much.
Well, we are still doing summer…if you read my blog a couple of posts ago you will have seen we had some extreme humidity – where most of us suffered! I had an even worse day at the waterpolo indoor swimming pool tournament – I had wished for a dip in a cool pool at times as a spectator
It’s still sizzling though, cicadas and all. The sun fires up real early and it continues to give of many rays of light filled warmth!
Recently I have been couch/chair surfing at the Mall where the aircon is about right…but you can only stay there for so long.
Almost every day recently I said the lawn needs a hair cut but when I seriously looked at it today, realised it doesn’t need it, in fact it seems dormant and in patches disappearing into something akin to “dry/gone” – so instead I cut down some huge branches from some overhanging trees that hit my head every time I walk by. Still have one more large one to deal with – on another day…
and now I’m feeling sticky as hell…so couch surfing here instead 🙂
Yuck! I would be trying to keep cool too! Good luck.
