Shyla has to wear boots when she goes out because two of her paws are hurt. KB has photographed Shyla’s feelings about the matter.
Have you ever felt the way Shyla does?
(The post shows more pictures, including some of a bobcat taken by KB’s trail camera.)

Yes, Jean, I most certainly have felt like Shyla does. Not least pensive. Though, unlike her, I try to avoid the ‘hard done by’ look (when in company). Luckily most woes are short lived – depending on one’s temperament.
By way of comforting Shyla: Louboutin has nothing on those shoes of hers.
U
I think the shoes look elegant too!
As I type this I am feeling exactly like that with exactly that look – the hang dog look.
Any special reason?
I just read your post and understand. My deepest sympathies for your loss.
when the federal building was bombed here and they were using search and rescue dogs to find survivors in all the sharp debris and rubble… somebody FINALLY realized the poor dogs’ feet were being injured. though the dogs kept diligently on.
boots were soon donated from all over. it was the first time i even knew they existed!
shyla is so beautiful with the sun shining on her sad ‘ oh no. not boots.’ face.
Those dogs are just amazing. I’m glad someone finally noticed and did something about their poor paws.
I agree, that second picture is especially priceless.
My sister’s Golden Retriever had sandals to put on for walks, because those dogs have tender pads that can bleed. My sister lives in San Diego where sandals are worn a lot. They didn’t stay on well like those boots of KB’s. I had to go back & retrieve one sometimes.
Errrrrrr Shyla’s boots
Sammy has delicate feet, but he won’t wear boots. When Kaitlin and Torben have bought them and put them on him, he hasn’t gotten more than a half a block before he’s managed to kick them off. That’s too bad, because he needs them when it’s below zero degrees. That kind of temperature hurts their paws, so Sammy and Montana are housebound until the weather warms up again.
Every morning when I leave the house completely, I put on sox and some similar sort of boots – not as colourful as I want to look like I’m wearing a pair of walking shoes…but none the less they are “boots” – some days I wish to wearing something pretty and perky but I know what that means…better to upright than falling sideways and spending weeks at the physio and limping!
No one would call my footwear pretty and perky, but they let me walk without my feet hurting. No grumbling here — they work. I agree, wearing proper shoes is better than limping!
Thanks for this post! I feel like Shyla a lot, although doesn’t usually involve my shoes!
Your problems last a lot longer than Shyla’s do. Presumably her paws will heal once the snow is gone. Hope your migraines disappear with time.
