The Kenyan government is planning to use drones to help stop the organized gangs who are killing elephants for their tusks and rhinos for their horns. I hope it helps. Horns and tusks are in high demand in the Far East, so poaching is lucrative — so much so that rhinos and elephants are becoming endangered species. An estimated 25,000 elephants were killed across Africa last year. Here’s an article on how drones might be used.
Let’s hope it helps!

That seems to be an excellent idea. Using them for something such as that has never even crossed my mind. Thanks for the information!
I was happy to read about it too!
I think there are likely a lot of great uses for drones… and the drones don’t have to be big ones like our military and the CIA are using (and misusing).
I know, but somehow this one tugs at my heartstrings.
THANK GOD.
that’s the best news i’ve heard in a long time.
now if we could just find a way to educate the far east about valuing ALIVE things instead of USING THEM UP. to everything from jewelry to fetishes to potions.
AAAGGGGHHH.
oh. don’t start tammy.
it just sickens me. the dolphin slaughter among the worst too.
and so … for the beautiful highly intelligent and family oriented and loving elephants…
lets hope it comes in time.
Some groups are working on that. It’s especially important to work with the people around the protected areas. If they’re poor it’s a big temptation to poach. And here’s a woman who argues that Africans must be treated as equal partners, along with some other ideas.
Absolutely brilliant idea.
Agreed.
agree, good idea
Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
