Good-bye Winter!

Winter must be officially over — Andy took the snowplow off the truck and stored it in the shed. And he removed the load of wood — used for ballast — from the back of the truck.

The woodpile continues to get smaller.

And Andy planted three fruit trees yesterday. With any luck he’ll plant the remaining three today.

I celebrated yesterday by finishing up the federal income tax. Andy does it using TurboTax and I do it by hand so we have a better chance of finding mistakes. The two versions agree, which is encouraging.

I also watched most of a basketball game on TV. I’m not a sports fan, but Kaitlin and Torben were in the audience, so I had to root for their team. Unfortunately Michigan lost, but it was still exciting. The winning basket was thrown from about 25 feet away with only 2.3 seconds left to play. It was well worth watching.

Did you do anything special?

I can’t seem to imagine finding a snow plough…however, I do know where my old but trusty raincoat is! It’s probably time to be replaced; last year I had shrunk much more and it usually looked like an oversized sack on me and I’ve shrunk some more…

I watched the last kids’ cricket match last Saturday; I have around a month off and then soccer begins!

You’re much more of a sports fan than I am!

If you’re like me, you have a sentimental attachment to that old loyal raincoat. I hope you find something you like as well.

Supervised the cooking of a Tambram dish with accompaniment. Sorted out some spiritual doubts of a close friend and sent him off by lending him a book that will explain some conflicts that he will have to sweat over.

The kids were part of a highly successful pet adoption camp and 24 animals were found homes for.

Summer is here for us. Yesterday was 38.8 and 18.8 and today’s forecast is 39.0 and 18.0 C.

Spent much of the last two days outside burning debris and growth that we’ve been clearing. We had rain on Friday so the fire danger was very low.

    our fire danger is high.
    still no rain.

celia still in critical care unit. NEVER EVER take aleve. that’s what did this to her.
if you talk to bhb tell her we miss her terribly! and we wish her well soon!

    • Jean says:

Yes, the snowplow is heavy. That’s why he leaves it on all winter. He needs to take the truck to Santa Fe for a recall repair, but he’s waited months to do it. He’s not about to take the plow off and have to put it back on!

Thanks for the warning. I hope your friend gets better soon. Here are more details about Alleve: http://www.iodine.com/drug/aleve/pain-fever/what-are-serious-risks-and-warnings

I never take aspirin or any NSAIDs because of my family history of ulcers and some previous experience with stomach problems.

I told Tom to tell bikehikebabe we’re sending our best wishes. Right now she doesn’t want calls or email — I’ll let you know when that changes.
