Melanie and Nicholas

Sunday we talked about the couple at the Dog Bark Park Inn, making a living doing what they love. Here’s another couple, Melanie and Nicholas, living in a cottage in rural Wales. They too are making their livelihood doing what they love. They use their skills in fine arts to make oil or pencil portraits of pets, not just dogs.

I love their website — they tell us about themselves, about Wales, about their cottage, etc. And every few days Melanie posts their progress on their current projects, so their clients can watch. It’s no wonder they’re doing so well. Good for them, and bless the internet for making it possible. Even though I’m not a client, I’ve subscribed to Melanie’s blog/studio diary so I can see what they’re doing. Yay, Melanie and Nicholas!

Reminds me a bit of my days as a ‘pet photographer’ back in the mid-eighties. Got involved with the ‘show dog’ circuit and one thing led to another but mostly enjoyed just photographing people’s regular pets. I’ll have to share a few one of these days soon.

  3. Hello! I followed the crumbs over to your blog and have so enjoyed my visit, and will make this a regular stop! I have to say, I am in awe of the talent of the artists in this post, what a true gift they have, and I’m going to pop over to see more of their work–Thanks for the link!

I hope your week is going well–Thank-you for your comment on my blog, and yes, of course please feel free to use any photos off my blog if you’d like. Take care!!

I’m in awe of their talent, too. Especially because I’m playing with art materials now and mostly just make simple shapes. 🙂

Very soon I want to write about you and Shadow, Cowboy, etc. Your descriptions bring tears to my eyes.

Finding your “flow” in the business world of today is so important…and if you find it via your “love” you are even more blessed.

I have at times found what rocks my boat so that I can make a living from it but right now that is not happening, nor has it happened for a few decades. But for now that is okay, my time may well come again…

(sorry behind with reading, enjoying my loss of net freedom at home, in a totally different way…)

Thanks for coming by when you can. I sympathize with your net problems. I don’t go out that much so would feel stranded without the internet.

I love being able to do what I want without worrying about trying to support myself.
