We needed a house number — Andy picked 75 — in order to get a building permit, so in June 2012 Andy nailed it to a tree at the start of our driveway.
Here’s what it looked like last Monday:
And here’s what it looked like Wednesday, before and after Andy cut down the aspens and bushes obscuring it.
The 75 is still hard to see, but we’re happy about all the new growth. A lot has happened here the last two years. What about where you are?
July 25, 2014
Two years ago, we were in drought — which ended up killing several trees — and, this year, all the vegetation is lush and green, except where herbicides have been used along fences, driveways, etc. We’re way above normal for precipitation and the entire year, so far, has been below normal for temperatures. We should have excellent fall foliage this year! 😉
Lucky you! We’ve had fairly good rains this summer too, and we’re grateful. At the moment we’re having a bit of a hot spell, but it could be a lot worse. It’s in the 80’s, not 90’s.
Looks like the fire has IMPROVED the land.
The first pictures were taken a year after the fire. We don’t have one showing what the area looked like before the fire, but we do know that fire favors aspens because it gets rid of the competition.
I have put on 5 kgs and it simply will not go away!
Sorry behind with reading almost any blog – let alone keeping up with many other interesting links
I finally had to place a large 58 in green pen on a cream metal garage door to stop people getting confused. Why? because at 58a which is actually the house in front is a home business and people drop in for repairs…
However, there are still the idiot taxis (cabs) that drive up, walk all the way up 15 steps to the front door clutching their RTs! Somehow they can’t read which is interesting because how do they map read to find their customers!
That’s too bad. Life can be complicated enough without that. Thanks for stopping by. I missed you!
