Andy figured more trees would have blown down Sunday night, and he was right. But he had help clearing them yesterday, so he was able to get up to the land.
Yesterday was a great day down here, too. I had a huge pile of insurance documentation going back to 2006, and I tossed it all except for the past two years. Our present insurance is more expensive, and there has been the one glitch that I’ve been blogging about, but it’s so much easier than what we used to have. It was fun being reminded I don’t have to go through all that again. I was also impressed at how well-organized and thorough my records were. That’s not my favorite way of operating, but sometimes it’s worth all the work.
And, on the movie front, Sony has decided to release The Interview after all. Only a small number of theaters will run it right away, but it’s a start. Interesting enough, one of them is in Santa Fe, and it’s owned by George R. R. Martin, the author of Game of Thrones. The theater was originally going to be closed Christmas Day but it will be open just to show the film.
It’s a good bet Sony will make a bundle on the film. Martin may have been the first to ask to show it. Good for him!
Happy Christmas Eve, everyone!

I think that by the time that the whole matter is closed, Sony would have made a pile. They simply turned a disaster into an opportunity to increase the demand for their product, The Interview by the brilliant tactic of taking it off the theaters! Now, DVDs and Bluerays will bring in the money! And North Korea never did have a chance.
They’ve already released it online, in addition to a small number of theaters. It will be interesting to hear how many people pay to see it.
well spoken rummy!
what beautiful pictures of a treacherous road monk!
happy christmas to you and andy and kaitlin and torben and sammy and montana!
XO
Treacherous? You ought to travel the road up to our cabin. 10 miles of it.
Oh you mean the falling trees? Only when the wind blows.
It would be treacherous if we didn’t fix it up regularly! Or maybe just impassable.
Good that Sony have decided to release the film after all. It would certainly have been a victory for terrorists if they had pulled it indefinitely. You might have heard that something similar – a book about the assassination of Margaret Thatcher by Hilary Mantel – caused a huge fuss in the UK recently. The Tories wanted it banned but I’m glad to say Mantel and the BBC didn’t budge an inch.
But talking of victories for terrorists, we’re still being asked to remove belts, shoes, liquids etc at airport security and what evidence is that any of these security checks have actually prevented any terrorist acts?
I agree with you about airport security. Not that we’ve flown for years. Andy was in the army in his youth and wants no part of that sort of regimentation.
I like seeing the progress of your road. I almost feel I’ve accomplished it, living vicariously.
I agree! I love seeing the pictures, but prefer to spend my time doing other things.
I would be holding my breath each time I ventured onto that road! 🙂
I’m glad the movie is being released–I’m also sure they’ll make a bundle, but then everyone can decide for themselves if it was worth all the drama.
?Merry Christmas from all of us at Golden Pines!?
Merry Christmas to you all, too! I love your posts and worry about the health issues.
We are having big winds here too. We have to clear trees from the trails… but not as many as Andy!
I’m glad that the Interview is being shown.
Merry Christmas to you!
Do you take a chain saw along when you go on the trails?
do you put special snow tread-things (don’t know correct terminology) on vehicles wheels/types to drive through that snow?
oops I think they are called “chains”
Andy has to put chains on when the snow is deeper. Right now there’s no problem driving with just 4-wheel drive.
