We had a bit more rain, but it’s almost the time when things start drying out and we need to worry about fires. We don’t have enough big trees to have as an intense a fire as we did in 2011, but Andy’s protecting the house and our trees by cutting down all the aspens and bushes within at least 25-30 feet of them.
It pays to be cautious.

That is does. Better to be safe than be sorry as we say here.
Agreed.
Very wise. Bush fires can spread terrifyingly quickly and such precautions are a sensible step.
Yes. Fires are scary.
I keep forgetting our differences – summer has certainly disappeared here and winter is racing to make a point – keep safe and be safe…
I sometimes remember to make the switch, but not always!
oh don’t say it!!! fires to me are worse than any other disaster in nature!
far worse than a tornado.
and especially a good idea to remove them.. especially since they’re alread dead and dry. talk about good fuel for the fire! wow.
As I’ve said, I would worry more about tornadoes, but you’ve said you have great forecasters. That would help a lot. We’ve had to evacuate twice, but we had a lot of warning. Andy could have been in trouble during the last fire, but he could see it coming and got out in time.
OMG.
I sometimes wish I lived somewhere else
but I do feel safe in the middle.
Away from fires and tornadoes.
🙁

There’s a lot to be said for that!
Fire is more likely in drought conditions. We can’t be too careful in preparing for that.
