They worked for about another ten hours yesterday. They dug out the drainage ditches that had been filled by mudslides along the side of the new driveway.
And they smoothed the road.
They also started an experiment on the old driveway, which is seriously eroded towards the bottom. “Seriously” means the gullies are so bad it’s hard to walk. Andy is trying to slope the road so the water runs off the side and down the hill instead of running down the road.
Tomorrow should be a short day, then Andy will get to sleep in for a couple of days before the backhoe comes. I think 5 a.m. is way too early to be getting up! I wouldn’t be able to put in the long days he has been doing, and I’ll be glad when they’re over.

Wow! That is quite a bit of work done!
Yes!
but even with the long days – the efforts will be rewarded come the season when weather cannot be just turned off – like the light bulb 🙂
Two reasons for fixing up the roads now is (1) hopefully the worst of the erosion from rain is over for the season, and (2) to make the roads easier to plow this winter.
Wow, seems kinda overwhelming!
So much to do.
But definitely a lot accomplished already.
🙂
