Tim sent this panorama he took from the top of Rabbit Mountain Sunday. The walk was a repeat of the first Sunday hike he, Beate and Andy took this summer, because they have now hiked all the trails/old roads in the area. Whether or not they repeat any more hikes this year will depend on the weather.

They hiked all the old roads shown in the picture, plus other roads and trails. It was a good summer, except that all those roads and trails are a mess to walk on now. They’re definitely not for the fainthearted —like me!

today here, it started fine, went to large drops of rain but not particularly wetting and then a lot of rain.
now it’s vaguely fine again, the sun is out, hopefully drying up the ground – WHY because I need to go out this evening to a 40th event for the local community I was once a volunteer for CAB/New Lynn…

The weather forecast for Sunday is steadily improving – now promises a high of 64F in Jemez Springs for Sunday.
That’s great news. We were thinking of going up this evening, but after the five trees across the road when he was driving back yesterday afternoon we thought we would wait to make sure the wind dies down. We’re now thinking maybe Saturday, before the time shift and the earlier darkness.
Andy ended up having to clear 11 trees off the road today. He needed the big chainsaw for 3 of them. Two more trees fell across the road down to the orchard, so there are now four that need to be dealt with. There’s no hurry for those.
