Our Own Sunshine

I came across this sentiment the other day and agree wholeheartedly. Do you have any strategies for creating your own sunshine? As I’ve said a gazillion times before, one of mine is

secret-of-happiness

when i have ‘off’ days… which are rather few thank goodness…
i don’t try to accomplish anything really.
i do have a few little strategies though.
i first take a lovely shower. that always revives me.
then i treat myself to breakfast or lunch OUT. and i eat something i shouldn’t.
sometimes i do affirmations. and sometimes i just sit quietly.
and sometimes i watch a hilarious movie. i have quite a few that i love.
they never fail to pick me back up.
reading something about or by someone very inspirational helps me too.

My off days are usually when I’m hit by something I need to respond to but don’t want to. I try to slip into a curious, fact-finding mode.

I do like your list, especially the part about watching or listening to something funny. That certainly helped me deal with shingles. And I love to read inspirational sayings or stories.

I have natural sunshine 365 days a year, even during the monsoon for a few hours each day, and three great sunshine emanating entities at home to ensure that I do not have to create my own sunshine. I think that those three think that I am a sunshine emanating entity too.

  3. Glad that you included, “What needs to be done”..We have been led to believe that we should just “be”, and be content with that! But I think that the portal to happiness, for most people, is through “doing”. And, of course, finding a way to enjoy the process.

When I’m at work and it gets really bad, I will take a favorite boarder and we will go out into the play yard and BREATHE. I’ve had other horrible jobs in my life where I was confined to either a desk or location and I felt like I couldn’t breathe.
If I’m at home, some times I’ll start surfing the Internet and reading things to lift my spirits but truly, two things that always help are:
Going outside and working in the yard (in nice weather) or
Rearranging all my furniture (in bad weather).
Might be odd, but it helps me almost every time! LOL!
