A book, too, can be a star, a living fire to lighten the darkness, leading out into the expanding universe.
—Madeleine L’Engle
This quote resonated with me when I read it yesterday. When I was a kid my world was too small and books were a gateway to something bigger and more exciting. Were you a book lover too?
Here’s another book quote I just came across:
It doesn’t matter. I have books, new books, and I can bear anything as long as there are books.

I used to read and read and read as a kid, until my schoolwork became too overwhelming for me to read for fun. I remember spending seemingly entire days devouring books, lying on my bed in my room.
Great quote. One of my favorite things about our “vacations” is that we each have time to read. I still have trouble finding more than the 20 minutes before I fall asleep to read these days.
I’ve always been plagued by eyestrain so have trouble reading for long periods at a time. But I still get excited going into a library or bookstore. I love books!
We are all writers, and as such, need to read, read, read! Fortunately, most of us love reading. It takes us out of our “writing” heads, and opens us up to others.
I agree!
What will I do without books?
I hope you never have to find out!
As a young person books put me in touch with the world, beyond my narrow one.
It was the same for me. I’ll always be grateful.
