It was dreary up on the land yesterday, but sunny down here in the afternoon. I wasn’t aware of the clouds over the mountains, so I had thought we would go up to see the lights on another moonlit night. Andy said there was quite a wind coming from the east, and it might blow the clouds away — we should just wait and see. So as I cooked dinner we watched the wind and the clouds to see if it would clear up so we could see the moon.
But then it dawned on us that the wind often blows dead trees across the roads, and maybe driving up on a windy, sub-freezing night might not be the best idea we ever had. So we skipped the adventure and enjoyed a cozy evening down here.
A wise choice, I would say.

a very wise choice! by two very sane people!
we’re expecting one of the worst ice and snow storms with high volume wind and ice and snow… for 36 to 40 hours.
and it’s coming from your direction i think!!! peak winds 60 mph.
29 is our temp now! and yesterday we were in shirt sleeves! gotta love it.
Wow! Stay safe and warm! Winds and ice can be treacherous.
hope you have got in a good supply of snacks tammy – more than minimalist is needed if you are housebound…
I’m glad you didn’t try driving up there!
Much better to be safe and cozy at home!
Xoxo
It was a good night. It turns out no trees fell across the road, but it was still the right decision.
looks bitter the landscape – so yep, good choice to stay home – warm/cozy…it’s now quite “hot” here – weather controller has found the right gauge for now!
we did have a nice breeze this arvo and I had a lot of the windows open and the Venetians were rattling even though I had them wound up to the top – had to close them early though, don’t want to have a mossie zooming around when I need to get to sleep…
I was outdoors this arvo – tying up bundles of twigs/small branches for my next outdoor art project and it was so sunny…but not overly humid.
I’m glad you had the breeze, that makes things a lot more enjoyable when the weather is warm. It still tickles me that I know you and Evan in the southern hemisphere. It’s such a contrast.
Good that you stayed back and had a cozy time.
Thanks.
It’s a long time since I was confronted with a “snowed in” road. You were smart to stay home, but I recall members of my family taking those conditions as a challenge, and getting seriously stuck!
Andy actually got the Jeep stuck on top of snowdrift yesterday, but it was easily remedied. That’s today’s post.
