Snowdrift

Andy was laughing when he showed me these pictures last night. The first one shows the Jeep stuck on top of a snowdrift. The wind had blown the snow into a drift, and Andy thought it was soft enough to just drive through. Instead he wound up on top of the drift with no traction for the wheels.

It wasn’t a big problem. He just plowed the snow away from the front of the Jeep and pulled it off the drift with the truck. Then he plowed the roads for a while.

The snow builds up by the side of the road when he plows, which means he has to dig out the open gate before he can close it on the way home.

Not much sitting in a rocking chair for this octogenarian.

it seems to build up so quickly – what sort of time frame is Andy away in this area – I know in the summer, he takes long walks but I imagine just wading through the snow from jeep-2-cabin door is an effort at times.

I just can’t imagine the snow in that format – although I was in the UK in the late 1960s and I fell into a snowdrift whilst out walking with family… but that was so long ago and I don’t even visit our mountainous areas in winter time.

Andy goes up almost every day, so mostly he can keep up with the plowing. We had less than an inch down here last night, but don’t know how much he will face up there. There’s a chance he won’t need to plow.

Yes, walking in snow takes a lot longer than when there is no snow! That day he walked the last mile in it took him about an hour. At least no one can call him a weekend warrior.

“Weekend Warrior” – I bought a beach towel with those kind cartoons on that clearly stated WW – because my ex-man was never going to be one! And I thought it suited him…there he would be [on the w/end] at the beach lying on said towel, doing absolutely nothing other than getting a tan!
