Plans

There’s an old saying,

Man plans and God laughs.

That implies making plans is useless. I disagree, I think Ike (Dwight D. Einsenhower) had the right idea:

Plans are nothing. Planning is everything.

Plans are motivating, and sometimes they help us take effective action. If one plan doesn’t work, then make another one, try something else. Andy and Orlando are having to do that. The equipment they had hoped to rent this weekend (to push the snow off the sides of the roads to make room for future snowfalls) isn’t available. At the moment it’s in the southern part of the state, helping the people there dig out after a blizzard. So for now we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we don’t get another heavy snow. If we get too much they’ll deal with it when it happens.

In the meantime Andy is taking advantage of the sun and our solar heating panels to warm up the floor and the house.

It was slightly above freezing out today, and he got the temperature in the house up to over 76 degrees. The system works beautifully when the sun comes out.

And since we are blessed with the sunlight all the year round, India is moving in a big way towards solar power. http://www.vox.com/2015/9/26/9399361/solar-power-india

good about the solar heating, not good about the snow-pile!

We could end up being lucky. Winter won’t last forever, we’ll just have to see if another heavy snow messes things up in the meantime.

  3. If you can’t get the equipment, Andy and Orlando might be forced to do more shoveling. Which is okay, but they do have to be careful not to overdo it. Lots of rest in between shovel fulls!

Apparently a front loader could do the shoveling, but it would still be tedious over the miles of road affected. In the old days we had to walk in when we had a snowy winter. We’re much older and more spoiled now. 🙂

I once looked at a house for sale that wasn’t expensive but still out of my price range. I loved it because it had a simple floor plan and the kitchen was white and so bright because of a solar panel.
I wish I could have those on my roof right now!
It’s been very cold and then yesterday it warmed up a lot but right now it’s in the 20’s and supposed to drop to extreme cold this weekend.
    Right now it’s lightly snowing.
I hope that there’s no more snow coming out your way!

Planning is good as long as one is not rigid in the plan. Flexibility always wins out.
