Wake-up Calls

Apparently in our town people are allowed to have chickens, but no roosters because of unwanted wake-up calls. I can understand, but I still remember living in a village in France and hearing a rooster crow every morning. It was far enough away that I loved the sound.

On the other hand, as much as I love the six Sibes over at The Thundering Herd, I’m glad I don’t have to hear their choir practice at 6 a.m.!

  1. I grew up on a farm, and can still hear the early morning call of the roosters. Yes, plural, because roosters were the meat—the chickens were saved for egg-laying.

Were they tough to eat? It reminds me of coq au vin in France. Thanks for the lesson! That never occurred to me. 🙂

There are plenty of birds around our home nesting in the trees that give wake up calls in the mornings!

it rather gave me chills. not so far removed from the wolf.
