Kaitlin and Torben are going through a heart-breaking, awful time right now. Hopefully they will find Montana soon so they will have a bit of amazing. Then a period of ordinary so they can relax, exhale, and recover from this ordeal.
Fingers crossed!

There are only two comforts I can offer and they are meagre:
Firstly, and this doesn’t help Kaitlin and Torben, Montana might be having the time of her life right now. Adventure, freedom … I could work this into one of those old Camel (the cigarette) adverts featuring a dog rather than a man.
Secondly, ever since your news broke I keep thinking of that film, part comedy, “Homeward bound” which I watched many years ago. Some may call it soppy, I loved it, and you are well rewarded with a happy ending. If you haven’t yet, do watch it. It’ll cheer you up, and give you hope.
What I’d like to know: What made Montana shoot off in the first place? It’s such unlikely dog behaviour – judging by what I observe on my many walks and when visiting friends who have dogs. I sometimes think it’s more likely for the owner to go awol and get lost than their dog.
Ray of sunshine greetings, Jean,

We don’t know what happened. She was at the groomer’s with Sammy so we assumed something completely spooked her. A couple of people saw a dog like her running flat out down the street in that area.
They got her from a rescue organization and she had been in a couple of homes before they adopted her. She was very anxious at first when they went to visit Torben’s folks. She was afraid she was going to be left again.
The only time I know she escaped before was when the kennel was driving Sammy and her home. The window was open a bit and she managed to jump through it to get home faster. So I wouldn’t say she’s an adventuresome dog.
Thanks for your reply, Jean. Must have missed the history of Montana’s background prior to her finding a home at Kaitlin’s and Torben’s.
Makes things a little clearer now. My youngest sister has had rescue dogs for many years. One – a lovely dog – was truly damaged. She clung to my sister’s side like glue. She was friendly with the children but enter a man, any man, even the most dog loving, into the room she’d become a simpering wreck. Not many guesses there why. Heartbreaking.
Continued wishes of good luck in your search,
U
Having experienced a similar loss, I can understand. I hope that there is a solution soon.
Thank you.
I read the book homeward bound and saw the movie.
what made it even more amazing and wonderful is that it’s all true!
that is why one should never give up. too many amazing reunions have happened.
but they must REST some too and take good care of themselves through this.
continued high stress and pumped adrenalin is not good.
are there such things as pet detectives? people hire them to find their pet?
I read it in a book once. in the book… if they didn’t find the pet you didn’t pay them.
doubt if such a thing exists.
thank you so much for keeping us updated.
Tammy, Jim Carrey “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective”. Maybe you and I could go into business together, as long as I do the book keeping and you are doing the finding.

As I recall the email book they bought was from someone calling himself a pet detective, but I can’t find any that will do all the work necessary to get the dog back.
A site called fidofinder.com says,
you’re on ursula. we could do it.
other than the fact I would drive you totally NUTS within probably 48 hrs. 🙂
notice how I refrained from using an exclamation point?
LOL! whoops.
hope we will hear better news soon…
oops btw – love the Life cartoon – and yep, it’s how life is – up, down & around …
