I’m forever making assumptions and I just can’t seem to stop.
It’s always work related.
The assumption that people are going to do or care about things like I do.
I’m usually disappointed.
I’ll try to stop assuming but I won’t quit hoping! Lol!

I assume that people understand, my reason/s for “xyz”
right now, I’m packing up – even though I have truly answered this question from a friend (3x) she keeps saying “you have got all the boxes labelled?” – Me: Yes!
There are other silly statements coming via her…some of which are unrepeatable.
Then there is the family member concerned about lack of some furniture…never-mind the fact, that some of that furniture has been lack for more than a decade. I have said “there is no date for need, I need to decide how to divvy up the open plan living area…then we will discuss it”
Somehow, because I have such a laidback attitude on various parts of my life, it seems to bring out the worst in people – who assume that a/I’m dumb or b/getting too old to make my own decisions/life…
yesterday saw someone in another library I know, wanted to know how I was getting on with Uni. I said “I’ve retired that learning…” her reply “for now”
said friend on “labelled boxes” has something else on the 22nd, and can’t be with me when I put the key in my new front door. Said “you can make your own decisions (or words to that effect)” – really pleased, on that matter because she had assumed I wanted to take all kinds of things there on first day – and unpack them.
that was the furthest from my mind – I wanted to just sit in the middle of each room and say “all mine” – with “stuff where I want it” (at least in the beginning…)
true.
and you know what the marine corps always says about assume. 🙂
apparently they don’t adhere to it either. 🙂
😀
I have had a number of people latching on to me during my long corporate life. They eventually dropped off after my retirement.
It sounds as if you’re happy about that. 🙂

A lot of people like to give to give others advice. It’s usually about them, not us.
definitely on people’s advice…
