If Cathy and anyone else can’t view this John Oliver video, here’s a description of it.

I had seen all the clips shown (oh the horror) before but his running commentary makes them more bearable.

Funnily enough the Angel showed me a short video clip this morning of either a speech or an interview Trump gave in 2008 in which he emphatically praises Hillary, indeed even Bill’s performance as a president. It doesn’t make sense. The Angel, and he is not the only one, thinks that there is a strong likelihood that “they are all in it together”. Ie after America had its first black President, it’s time for a woman. So Trump is now working his socks off to ensure that Clinton wins. Yes, I said. Pause. But what if Trump DOES win – despite himself? At that point the Angel was brushing his teeth so all I heard was a muffled sort of snort. And then he was out of the door.

The Angel completely misses Trump’s attitude towards “losers”. That includes John McCain for letting himself get captured during the Viet Nam War.

Here’s a quote from someone who interviewed him a couple of years ago.

What had most struck me during my two days with Trump was his sad struggle to extract even an ounce of respect from a political establishment that plainly viewed him as a sideshow. But what I didn’t realize at the time was that he’d felt this way for virtually his entire life β€” face pressed up against the window, longing for an invitation, burning with resentment, plotting his revenge.

No, Trump hates losers and does not want to be one of them. I think Frontline had it right when they talk about the humiliation he felt towards Obama roasting him at the White House correspondent’s dinner. As they say, what better revenge than making Obama hand over the keys to the Oval Office?

This guy is incredibly funny. The sad part of this drama is that the protoganist does not seem to understand anything about what is being said or thought about him.

    priceless!
although I rather liked ursula’s angel’s take on it! it sounds plausible to me.
    and if it’s true… wouldn’t that be a kicker!
I also watched the annual roast videos … the charity dinner of al smith.
got pretty rugged in some places. but both candidates seemed to actually be enjoying the other’s humor.
one thing you can say… and you have often said it before yourself …
it definitely has not been boring or the typical business as usual politics.
    AND yet…
thank heaven it’s almost over. it’s always WAYYYY too long in this country.
and if most everybody on the hill thinks that… WHY don’t they change it! ??

Thanks for the link… John Oliver is hilarious but we don’t get HBO. There’s talk of 2020? Nooooooooooooo…….

We don’t have cable either, but I occasionally watch John Oliver on the internet. Yes, unfortunately this election is just the start. It will continue on and on. If Clinton gets elected the Republicans in Congress have already vowed to investigate her.

PS I was late answering this because for some reason your comment landed in my spam folder. I have no idea why. πŸ™

I managed to watch that clip – also both Clinton/Trump presentations – of course some of the political/other stuff meant nothing but it was interesting none the less…
