I’ve always been a physically restless person. I can’t stay in the same place for longer than about half an hour. I have to be up and about, doing useful things! Or even useless things. Jenny can stay rooted to the spot for hours (quite often on the couch). I don’t know how she does it.
I know I AM spending too much time in this computer chair again!
I’ve never been a couch sitter but boy… this thing can entrance me and the hours fly by. I have to watch that. not healthy for me at all!
I don’t like chairs. Here’s approximately my computer setup:
For our desktop I use an exercise ball as a chair. It’s good for the core muscles, and easier to move around a bit on it. Jiggling is good for the circulation.
I also sometimes bike on my Schwinn Airdyne when I’m using my iPad.
I’m afraid I’m not a minimalist. I like a well-furnished playpen. π
We don’t have a comfortable chair in the living room, so we sit on the couch. Mostly Andy does. It’s really comfortable, so mostly don’t sit on it unless I need to doze off. π
Because I didn’t have a couch for maybe a year, I took up residence on my bed (my pride & joy) double bed…now I have my bean bags, they are great but I need to deal with some other add-ons… I know that sooner or later, I will find myself lounging in them more often.
I bought them for additional exercise, of being able to get up from the floor, because I’m not as agile as I should be…to get “up” from them, I need to basically “fall” onto the floor…
and now as my “balance” gets worse with various other issues – I can’t do so much dedicated exercise & I don’t actually want a “ball-chair”
Movement is my friend so no couches for me! My spine hurts if I stay still so it’s perpetual motion for me. I don’t have a computer setup like yours but I get up to move around a lot!

In fact, I usually hate to sit. I even stand when I use the computer. But lately I will sometimes take a quick cat nap sitting on the couch.
For me too except that my preference is for my recliner sofa.
π
Not exactly the place I had in mind for an “adventure”. Perhaps a couch in an exotic location?
Most of my adventures are mental. I have a rich inner life.

My preference is the ‘couch potato’ position. I wake up frightfully early, so by 1:30 pm or so, I’m ready for an hour long napβkeeps me going!
I’m a great believer in naps when we need them. I had insomnia for years and wouldn’t have survived without them.
We just got a couch. We lived for 5 years without one. But sleeping in my chair worked fine. π

This is great, what you’ve all said about naps. I have been feeling sooo guilty, furtive.
Helllloooooh. No no I wasn’t sleeping. Noo. Just uh, kind of stuffed up. Weather.
Yes, you have plenty of support for naps here. π

We have to figure out what works best for us. It’s nice to have the choice. π

You certainly are active. I know the biking helps a lot, even though there is some risk. I admire you so much. And I love your pups.
I have come to the realization that I need an exercise ball.
xo
They don’t cost much and are fun. π
