Good Dinner Theater?

There’s no excuse for letting an international crisis play out in front of a bunch of country club members like dinner theater. #FireFlynn
—Nancy Pelosi, (D-Calif.), the leader of House Democrats

But Richard DeAgazio, one of the members dining at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club, thought it was great. Someone texted him at dinner asking if he had heard of the North Korean missile test, and he looked over to the table where Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe were having dinner and took pictures of the activity.

He posted the pictures on Facebook (now deleted, I’ve read) and wrote,

“HOLY MOLY!!! It was fascinating to watch the flurry of activity at dinner when the news came that North Korea had launched a missile in the direction of Japan. The Prime Minister Abe of Japan huddles with his staff and the President is on the phone with Washington DC. The two world leaders then conferred and then went into another room for hastily arranged press conference. Wow. . . the center of the action!!!”

The New York Times shows some of the pictures DeAgazio posted on his Facebook page.

The White House claims no classified information was discussed in the unsecured dining room.

Never a dull moment. It sounds like great publicity for the Mar-a-Lago Club, don’t you think?

Read an account of the above just now before turning left onto your blog.

Small detail which probably hasn’t escaped your attention and was mentioned in passing that the joining fee for Mar-a-Lago has doubled (from $100,000 to $200,000) since Trump became president. You have to hand it to the guy: He knows how to trade up.

And Michael Flynn has resigned – with all that implies. What made me smile was this observation:

“The only things protecting Trump from impeachment for his egregious behaviour are his poll numbers and the false sense of security they give to Republicans in Congress.

Sadly for Trump, those numbers are tumbling faster than the ratings of Celebrity Apprentice. In just three weeks, Trump has lost 5 points in his Gallup approval polls to hit 40%.

It took Richard Nixon four years to reach this low point, just a year before he quit the presidency. At this rate, Trump will reach Nixon’s all-time low of 24% approval before the end of April.”

Oh, Jean, I shouldn’t laugh but I can’t help it, that last paragraph is a beauty: ” … before the end of April”. How to live in the fast lane whilst holding onto the hamster.

Yes, I was aware of the price increase for the joining fee. 🙂 Apparently $200K is what it was before a lot of people lost their money to Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme. They dropped it to $100 K because the demand dropped, but Trump’s win has increased the demand again. When I read about the incident one of my first reactions was, will the price go up even more now?

I agree, Trump is lucky Congress is controlled by the Republicans, otherwise it would be starting impeachment proceedings. And no doubt those proceedings would already have been started if Clinton had won.

if he weren’t so pathetically incapable one could really feel sorry for him.
but he truly believes all the great stuff he says about himself.
I think the reality of it all has been a rude awakening for him.
and he’s so into ‘the numbers’ that if he reaches ‘those numbers’ by the end of april…
what will happen will be anybody’s guess.
    well…
    I guess it’s ALREADY anybody’s guess … on any given day! 🙂

  3. Unbelievable how fast and furiously things are happening in the WH, and consequently, the world. It would be funny, if it wasn’t so scary!
