And You Thought the Campaign Was Over

Donald Trump and his aides have made no secret of the fact they are already looking toward a re-election bid in 2020.

Apparently, they even have a new slogan.

The New York businessman who won the presidency by campaigning on the mantra “Make America Great Again” says he plans to update that motto three years from now: “Keep America Great.”

Trump trademarked his campaign slogan for 2016, and he indicated to The Washington Post he plans to do so again.

Trump already has collected over $7 million for the campaign, and his first rally is today.

His supporters like his style, so I’m guessing he will get a large crowd.

  1. *He* loves the show of campaigning so it doesn’t surprise me that he’s already looking ahead. I wonder if there will be anything left in 4 years?

It’s not just for 4 years from now, he needs the adulation of his supporters. And if enough people support him it will affect how Congress interacts with him.

Extraordinary. I keep thinking, oh the poor guy. Eric says I shouldn’t feel sorry for Trump, and I get his point, but I still feel sorry. He wants so badly to be admired, etcetc, and keeps behaving in ways that guarantees he won’t be. Yes, he has his admirers, but it drives him crazy to be reminded again and again about how much he’s disliked and how much contempt so many people feel for him.

    • Jean says:

He feeds off his supporters, so no need to feel sorry until/unless they start deserting him. Apparently about 9,000 people showed up for him today.

good grief! Surely he’s not serious, wouldn’t his time be better spent with this initial term of office – getting things underway (I don’t mind for his thrills) but for all his people that he helps to govern.

    • Cathy in NZ says:

gosh, my sentence construction is getting worse in the (..) that should read (I don’t mean for his thrills) – the only thing that 4 letter word has in common is the beginning letter “m”…

    • Jean says:

It’s been a rough week and he needs the adulation of a crowd to recharge his batteries.

    • Cathy in NZ says:

LOL – and I noted another “wrong word”…he “hopes to govern” not “helps” – I really can’t understand how my typing brain is doing that – especially since there is no tell tale red line to alert me to “wrong spelling”
