Do you have any favorite famous expressions? Do you think any famous expressions are stupid, or at least overused?
One of my favorites is
It is better to light one candle than curse the darkness.
But I like this variation even better. It makes me laugh:
It is better to light one candle than let anyone know how old you are.

I like both versions of the candle adage.
My oft repeated adage is “We are always wiser by hindsight.” In fact, it is my blog’s guiding principle!
The next one would be something that has just come into my life the last few years; “It is easier to get older than it is to get wiser.”
Unfortunately not everyone is wiser by hindsight — some people never learn from their experiences. I’m glad you’re not one of them!
for some reason I can never think to say those old expressions correctly.
I finally just quit using any of them after telling bob to get off his high hog.
I love the cartoon! and the first candle one. that’s nice. 🙂
