Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.
—Camille Pissaro
That quote warms my heart. One of my versions would be,
Blessed are those who treasure the little joys of everyday life.
And since I’m having technical problems as I write this, another might be,
Blessed are those who can cheerfully deal with things that don’t work.
What would your version be?

There are three things which are rare indeed and are due to the grace of Godโnamely
a human birth, the longing for Liberation
and the protecting care of a perfected sage.
This is an important Sanskrit shloka from an important text on Advaita philosophy called Vivekachudamani.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivekachudamani)
That’s quite a contrast to one modern saying I love: “We only live once, and if you do it right, once is enough.”
That reminds me of a New Yorker cartoon I saw years ago. The couple was clearly rich and well-dressed, the husband grumpy and the wife cheerful. She’s saying, “If it’s true, Geoffrey, that we only go around once in this world, it’s too bad you’re such a pompous ass.” For some reason that cracked me up at the time and it still does as I remember it.
Blessed are those who calmly navigate the ups and downs of life without succumbing to rage, hysteria, despair or hatred. Blessed are the philosophical.
For me “cheerfully” works better than “calmly”. It’s a great question, isn’t it? It does point out our different approaches to life.
Yes, Nick, I agree: Blessed are those who can take a philosophical view of the many difficulties we face as we age!
Yes, there are no end of challenges to test us.
blessed are those who can live by all of those wonderful platitudes here.
I am slowly but surely getting there. one step forward two back. one step forward… ๐
I hope you’re enjoying the journey. ๐
Blessed are those who can enjoy a detour.
Amen to that!
Don’t let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.

Amen to that, too!
nothing to add…just go with the flow
Sounds good to me. ๐
