Everyone knows that Santa Claus is jolly, but in Santa’s Husband, this cherished symbol of the holiday season is also black and gay, and married to an equally cheery man.
….
As this charming book reminds us, Santa Claus can come in all shapes and colors and sizes—just like the children and families he visits all over the world each Christmas eve.
There is a cultural war going on in the U.S. right now, and the author of Santa’s Husband is an extreme example of one side. On the far end of the other side are Trump supporters, including the evangelical Christians. The NPR article, Why Trump Continues To Forge An Unlikely Bond With Religious Conservatives, does a good job of explaining this alliance, as unlikely as it would have seemed. The Chicago Tribune column Why evangelicals still support Trump is another one.
As usual, we live in interesting times.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
XOXOXOXO
And to you, too!
We are living in very interesting times over here too. This book should provoke a lot of comments from both sides in your national press. Is it new?
I disagree with the author. I think to be successful in life and marriage everyone has to learn and grow, not just the husbands.
I supposed a minority believe that “reinvention” is a good way forward, I’m not sure what that will do, but the press will have a field day…add in the retailers, the church and so on…
Seasons Greetings to those wish to take that up from me in NZ, where today is the beginning of the traditional Boxing Day sales! Somehow it never with almost empty shelves, but rather some people have worked overnight refilling the shelves…always feels like nothing sold in the week leading up to the big day…
It would be crazy for stores not to have plenty of things to sell when people are in the mood to buy!
