Snow Up on the Land

It snowed about 4 to 6 inches down here, 8 to 10 up on the land, so Andy had to plow.

Andy had to plow for the first, and hopefully last, time this winter. That’s unusual!

isn’t amazing what a difference elevation makes!
we are continuing to have rain. it’s cold but wonderful.
our last fronts moving through should end tomorrow.

Iā€™m glad he has a Jeep.
We had rain and then it froze
And then it thawed a bit and froze again.
    Grrr

    • Jean says:

Yes, that’s the problem with rain and subfreezing temperatures. I sympathize!

A lot of snow melted down here and froze overnight so we have ice too. Not on the roads so much, but we have to be careful walking to the car. Not nearly as bad as where you are.

    • Jean says:

PS All of our cars are either 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. It makes a big difference when driving off-road and even on paved roads in winter.

Is this normal for late February?

    • Jean says:

Not at all unusual before the drought. The first year we were here we had two feet of snow down here the first week of April. That much was unusual, but we often had snow flurries the first week or so in June.

The extreme lack of snow this winter is unusual.

Looks pretty. We’ve still only had one day with a little bit of snow, melted by the end of the day, which is fine with me.

Our precipitation continues. We’ll probably end up with 12 inches in 8 days. Our annual average is 48″. šŸ™

    • Jean says:

Wow! You get a lot more precipitation than we do. Down here our snow melts fast in February, which is nice. I still prefer rain, with no ice!

  5. Cathy in NZ says:

it’s all “wow” to me – who doesn’t see such “stuff” here – okay the occasional brief whiff of it (about 5 years ago) but it cleared fairly rapidly…

we other kinds of weather, like peasouper fogs!

    • Jean says:

When we were kids we saw whiffs of snow twice Once enough that someone could make a snowball. Needless to say, that was exciting! We also had pea soup fogs, which are scary to drive through. .
