The Tiger Woods of a different time may very well have walked off the Champions course at PGA National on Saturday in a foul mood, annoyed at the opportunities missed and the mistakes made.
There were all those birdie putts that did not drop, then bogeys on two of the closing par-3s when the wind and water got the best of him.
….
And yet he was pleased.
Perhaps one of the best signs so far in Woods’ comeback from spinal fusion surgery is the level of patience and tempered expectations that he has brought into the arena.

Hurray for patience and tempered expectations! Being in a foul mood doesn’t help. Just keep plugging along and enjoy the process.
i think there is probably one thing that the kind of pain he had been in for so long and the aging process itself brings us.
it might be the lessening of ‘the life and death ‘ type of attitude.
it suddenly just feels good to be alive!
good health is everything. if you don’t have that it doesn’t matter if you win a golf game or not.
(although this observation is coming from a non competitive person anyway!)
He’s still learning to golf with his new normal — the fused spine. Everything is different.
good on him, for having the patience to return – and then to return. The returning would be difficult for anyone top of their earlier game (be it sport or something else)
many people head for the hills and we only know them from written history…or re-runs of movies or chats as such “so what you doing now, Tiger?”
Yes. Doing the best we can with what we have left. 🙂
Great spirit. He is quite a character. Can’t help admiring him for his tenacity.
Yes. 🙂
