Finally!

Andy and I were thrilled to get this photo from Kaitlin yesterday.

Why? Because when Kaitlin was young and we saw personalized items like keychains on display we told her we would buy her one if it had her name on it. We looked for years, even long after she had left home — it would have been a perfect gift.

So after all this time she finally found one. How neat is that?! Yay, Kaitlin! Yay, San Antonio, Texas!

love their outdoor concerts on PBS.
Kaitlin is a beautiful name and more and more popular it seems.
at least you hear of it more now. it’s sounds very Scandinavian to me.
and I know there’s that Viking blood in yours and Andy’s veins … no?
and I like the name Torben too!
I always wanted to be a Kate. not Katie. but Kate! like Hepburn i guess.
there was much about her that I admired. πŸ™‚

Actually they’re in San Antonio. After I wrote Austin and started doing other things I realized the mistake and came back and changed it. You were too fast for me! As I understand it, K and T flew to Austin because the seats to San Antonio were already booked. San Antonio is cool too, it was on their bucket list.

Apparently Kaitlin is of irish origin. From Wikipedia:

CaitlΓn or Kaitlin or Caitlyn is a female given name of Irish origin. It is the Irish version of the Old French name Cateline [katlin], which comes from Catherine….

Historically, the name was only anglicized as Cathleen or Kathleen. In the 1970s, however, non-Irish speakers began pronouncing the name as /?ke?tl?n/ KAYT-lin, which led to many variations in spelling.

A friend of mine in Ithaca had a daughter with that name and I decided if I ever had a daughter I would name her that. I had never seen it written and pictured it with a K instead of a C. One of Andy’s relatives wrote it with a C in letters and when I told her she said pardon her for spelling it correctly. Sorry, K is the official spelling in our family. πŸ˜€

I’m actually half Swedish, quarter Irish. Torben’s mother is from Denmark.

” when I told her she said pardon her for spelling it correctly. ”
good grief. I’d have to pardon her for more than that! like being regimental and rude maybe. LOL!
I love San Antonio. especially the river walk. so beautiful. ours in OKC has a long way to go but now that the trees are much bigger it too is becoming so enchanting.
