Oh, I don’t know. Andy and I were scarcely helicopters parents, and Kaitlin apparently has fond memories of growing up and working on projects together. Whether or not we had anything to do with it, she turned out to be a lovely and highly competent woman. I think all three of us are winners.
After we dropped Kaitlin off at college and were about to leave, I was feeling sentimental and Andy was beaming. He turned to me, put his hand on my knee and said, “We’re empty nesters now! We no longer have to be a good example for our child. Where shall we go, and what shall we do? We thought about it for many months, then decided to start square dancing.
Well I didn’t become an “empty nester” but when I finally split with my darling husband – I suddenly didn’t have to please anyone but myself…
I remember the first time, after many months of living with supportive family who had provided me with my first lot of food…I went to do my own grocery shopping – I was like a kid in a toy store….
The lies come thick and fast from our Tory politicians. They probably don’t even recognise that they’re lying, they’re so used to it. The sad thing is that many people actually believe the lies and are surprised when they turn out to be so much hot air.
Trump takes political misinformation to a new level. The late night comedians have a field day comparing what he says now to video clips of him saying just the opposite in the past. Fake news, alternative facts, whatever his base might respond to.
I would hate to be raising a child at this time.
xo
Same here. Humanity is in for a rough ride.
Oh me too. I say this quite often. So scary…
Most be poking at fake news.
Coffee is on
Yes. 🙂
LOL – news travels very fast nowadays – real or false – many tricksters among our populations…
There always have been tricksters, but they can spread their messages a lot faster and to a lot more people now.
Parents can never win.

I can imagine how liberating that felt!
