Getting Stuck

Last Sunday after they had put the chains on the truck, Kaitlin, Torben, and Andy heard a car trying to get unstuck. They had heard it earlier, but the sounds had stopped, so they thought the driver had been successful.

Anyway, we all went down so Andy could pull them out with the Jeep. The reason the sounds had stopped was because they had been busy trying to do some digging.

They were happy for the help, of course, and it all ended well.

It reminded me of a car that got stuck in the rocks coming in our driveway down here last month.

I first noticed it because there was a fire truck on the main road, the car stuck partially in the rocks, and a group of teenagers milling about. Presumably the fire truck was checking to be sure the gas tank hadn’t been punctured, presenting a fire danger.

Anyway, when I looked a bit later the fire truck was gone and the teenagers were looking at the car seeing if they could get it unstuck. Apparently not, still later a tow truck came and pulled the car to a parking spot in front of our apartment. The last time I looked most of the teens were gone, there was only one boy with a middle-aged couple looking to see if the car had been damaged.

I hope the boy didn’t get into serious trouble and that he’s more careful when he drives in the future!

oh that poor family! you know he no doubt was in trouble.
I hope he had permission to even drive it!
even with insurance coverage I’m sure their premium went up.
teenage boys and vehicles… not a good monetary mix usually!
wonder if he skidded or what? they seem out of the roadway well enough.

  2. yes let’s hope no harm done to the car or even family – but also a great learning curve… I’m pretty sure some of the things we have done in our lifetime, came with similar curves!
