The talk of dogs and snow reminds me of an incident over 50 years ago. For the first three years we were at Cornell we didn’t own a car, so one day after a snow I was walking back to our apartment carrying groceries and met a happy dog who wanted to play. He did a play bow and I said I was sorry, but I couldn’t play with him. I had a long wool scarf with one end hanging down so he grabbed it and gently tugged, looking me in the eye and encouraging me to join him. I sadly said I had to get home, but I’ve never forgotten him.
I’m also reminded of Montana, Kaitlin and Torben’s pup before Tempi. They didn’t call her Montana Tornado for nothing.
And here’s another video of dogs playing in the snow.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have some of that exuberance and joy?

Now if only we had some snow here now, we could show you what fun it is to play in the snow. We were born for the snow!!!
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Yes, I know you were! Fingers crossed for you, but for your mom too. We want snow in your yard but not on the sidewalks!
i was talking to an American woman on the ferry on my way back to downtown Auckland (she lives here nowadays) – anyway she just back from somewhere in the States with “snow” and she said she was ill equipped for it – since she never went there much in winter…
It is a shock when you’re not expecting it. Having warm clothing is essential.
ohmygosh!
the sheer joy of all of them. it’s just wonderful.
I had forgotten how much Montana loved to twirl and run!
and beautiful Sammy laughing and watching.
thank you Monk. XO
I love that video too. Bless Torben for creating it. 🙂
My first tryst with snow and iced up roads, was up in Scotland’s North East, when I was much younger. While the snow was sort of fun to experience, the icy pavements were something else. I did not come across any dogs though!
Yes, the snow is beautiful when it first falls, but when it melts and refreezes if can be treacherous!
This beats everything that I’ve seen on TV by a long stretch! And this is why I love snow, being out with the dogs and part of their fun, makes it fun for me too – I can’t wait! 🙂
I know, their fun is contagious. 🙂
