A very smart pup, and a very kind human:)

That story reminds me spending my summers at a small lake when kids and pets were welcome at any of the five cottages along the road. It was only as dark was approaching that we were all sent to our proper homes.

I’ve heard this story before and find it utterly adorable.

  4. a long time ago we had a cat that came regularly each afternoon – to watch day time TV with us, never whined for food (never got it anyway) and then at some point ambled out the back door…one day the cat came with a new collar and tag – tag said call this number. We did – the owner said “not to feed her…” we said “never do” turned out the cat came quite a long way…we exchanged phone numbers until the time when the owner called to say “we are moving away…” and that was the end of the visits.

and more recently there is Lily who is now the permanent fixture (staff) at the retreat at Long Bay. Lily wasn’t always their cat, she lived somewhere else – her owners went to work, so often she didn’t come over on the w/ends…then the owners were leaving Auckland and rather than take Lily, decided to gift her to the retreat. Lily has access to any unopened doors, is not allowed in the kitchen (where she would be a hazard) and she is absolutely “your cat” at any given moment….

so you can see why the “smart pup” here likes to get away…

  5. Our dogs WISH they had a place like this! ๐Ÿ™‚

No snow for us, but a winter storm is on the way – snow turning to sleet and eventually rain, so I think it’ll be pretty for about an hour.

  7. Cindi says:

    Um…
I guess itโ€™s just me but I find this bizarre.
    Sweet story… but bizarre.
She just lets a dog sleep at her house and then leave?
I mean, Iโ€™m glad that it all turned out to be a cute story but….
    What if he was lost?
She just lets him leave? and …
I just donโ€™t get how she wouldnโ€™t try to find out the very first time if he needed help finding his way back.
    And…. I guess Iโ€™m too cynical because I just donโ€™t believe it.

    • Jean says:

I didn’t find it that far-fetched, because in my youth I knew dogs who would visit other places during the day. But who knows? If he kept coming back and looked well-cared for I wouldn’t have worried.
