We’re Not the Only Ones Who Are Sagging

I stumbled a couple of times going from our porch to the stair landing, which was unusual. Then Kaitlin pointed out our porch has sagged so there is a little (approximately one and three-quarter inches) step there now. Duh! Thank you, Kaitlin!

Our apartment complex was built a couple of years before we came here in 1974, so none of us are getting any younger!

I guess everything sags when it gets older…lol

Yes. Thanks to your comment I changed the title back to my original version (instead of We’re Not the Only Ones Showing Signs of Age). It’s much better. 😀

Our house was built in 1949 and it’s still in good nick. But we had to remove a chimney because we were getting a persistent roof leak somewhere in the chimney area.

I’m so glad you didn’t FALL! that could have been a bad one. I don’t even want to imagine it!
    my digital retreat is over.
Michael called just now and he and Karen are enjoying Ireland.
right now they’re actually in Scotland. she wanted to locate a ruined castle or something that has connections to her family. he’ll be home late on Friday night. I’m just hibernating in the A/C. it’s terribly hot and humid here! xo

Hurray for AC! I recently read Bouncing Forward: My Journey with Guillain-Barré Syndrome. The poor gal was completely paralyzed, except for being able to blink with one eye, for months. She keeps mentioning in the book how hot and thirsty she was. She couldn’t drink because she couldn’t swallow, and she had no control over the temperature. When it gets too warm for me I think of her and count my blessings.

Good luck with your escape from the heat! Do you do anything special to make up for not being able to go out much?

And Mom says it doesn’t take much for her to trip or lose her balance. She is always keeping her eyes on where she is going. Be careful.

  5. Cracks in sidewalks and drops in cement pads can appear over night. Glad you didn’t discover this with a fall!

    • Jean says:

It seems strange that it would change so fast on the porch, but I never tripped earlier. I didn’t even have sense enough to figure it out after the first stumble. So much for being observant. 😀

  6. yes lots of “things” that we walk on can change when we least expect…maybe it was because you were distracted by being with family or you walked up in a different angle…or maybe the building at that part has been hit by too much weather…

    • Jean says:

It is strange that I suddenly tripped, but now that I’m aware of it I’m more careful. I did tell the management about it in case they want to do something.

I don’t know if this will work and whether this comment will show up or not.
It dawned on me that I’ve been trying to comment through Safari and maybe Chrome will work?!?!
That being said, please please be very careful!
A fall could be life changing!

Yes, I try not to fall. I officially have osteoporosis and am trying to be careful.
