When Andy came home last night he said,
Good News. I’m still alive and the Christmas tree is back in the attic.
I won’t argue with that!
He would have taken the tree down when we were all up there last week, but there was still too much snow on the roof. It wasn’t safe. Monday the snow was gone but it was too windy, so yesterday it was.
Here’s a zoomed picture of the lights on the tree as we were driving down our road New Year’s Eve.

I’m glad he’s safe! and the lights are down.
I wonder if he were to leave them up if local stations would receive a call from worried onlookers (new to the area) thinking it’s a colorful space ship!
Not too likely. We don’t have that many onlookers. π
Andy is all guy isn’t he. No talking him in to waiting until someone can be with him to go on the roof…just in case.
The trouble is because of the wind and snow it’s too hard to schedule it. Andy is trying to be careful, and that’s as good as it gets.
The “I’m still alive” part of that sentence makes me wonder if there was more to the story…lol
I’m guessing not. I’m guessing it’s because he knows I would prefer it if someone were with him we he puts it up and takes it down.
crazy dude…never gonna give up on doing the “man thing” but I suppose you can really stop him…he’s his “own man” π
“can’t really stop him…” why is that I never get the “negative” on the page correctly…my head says “stop that” my hands do something completely different…
I understood what you meant and didn’t even notice the lack of the negative. I don’t think he’s crazy, he’s just doing what he loves to do.
My friend/Sister-nl and I email each other every morn with the phrase ‘we survived another night’….just the way things have gone…we are always glad to see that everyone has survived with no stroke, no fall…etc. It is amazing that Andy can get up there and do that. But my older brother who is 75, will climb up a tree and top it. And I fully expect him to be doing that at 80.
Men just don’t like to give up. I always say Roger’s hard-headedness has got him through the stroke.
I’m so glad you have someone to check in with. And there’s a lot to be said for determination and perseverance.
Well, that’s surely good news. We hope next time Andy will let someone help – that’s not an easy job. We vote for leaving it up there year round.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Unfortunately the tree would wear out too soon if he left it all year. He agrees sooner or later we should rig something else down lower, but he’s not ready for that yet. He is careful when he goes up there, so I don’t worry about it. At our ages something is bound to happen sooner or later, so we’re making the most of the time we have left.
Iβm in awe of you both.
Youβre both fearless, in different ways.
xoxo
Thank you. π
