Apparently the fence was less than perfect. The pups found a way to get out and were playing with Wally, a neighbor pup who is free to roam.
But they cheerfully came back when Torben and Kaitlin called them. Then when the bipeds were fixing the spot, Tempi found another place to slip out. And she wasn’t happy when Kaitlin and Torben dog-proofed the second escape route. She glared at them and pawed the ground in frustration.
So much for the pups loving their new yard and being grateful.
This morning, though, they seemed happy enough being quiet officemates as Kaitlin worked from home in the living room:

I so hope they don’t learn to dig! Maybe they got worn out this morn with meeting a new friend and are having happy dreams now.
It will be interesting to see how it goes. Never a dull moment with those two. 🙂
they’re out like a light!
and I LOVE their new beds!
also… the color on that wall! yes! xo
I love their beds too, and clearly they do! The way Tempi stretches out cracks me up.
aha, so “pawing is the new solution” … I suppose they’ll be considering their “high jumping skills” next! Or as Rose has suggesting “digging” – everyone will be happy with holes for the new plants…
and we know why they are busy in the yard…they know that the bipeds are home all day long…and they need exercise because they aren’t travelling to wherever…
They still go for their walks every day, and the walks are in the woods rather than on suburban sidewalks. Zoe is the one with jumping skills, remember how she managed to get out and hit by a car a couple of years ago.
Wow, those are some awesome beds – we need some like that too!!!
Hope the peeps can make that fence escape-proof. But the pups were so good to come back when called.
Woos, Lightning and Timber
We love these beds. They are a little expensive but they last and hold up to some tough pups. We first got one for Sammy when his hips were going and it helped him so much. It is an American company called Big Barker. They have even made us custom made ones to spaces that are not their standard size – one for Sammy in the car, and one for Zoe in her “night crate.” She was a little anxious at night for a while at our house, and then when we went to relatives, and this really helped her.
My husband had a dog that was an escape artist. He could dig his way out of anything. Hopefully the pups will learn to be content in their own yard and only visit the neighbor dog through the fence
We’ll have to see if they learn the art of digging under fences. Hu-dad at The Thundering Herd patiently solved that problem with his first Sibe, an accomplished escape artist. https://thethunderingherd.com/1994/12/01/escape-artist/
How smart of them to find a way out. No doubt they’ll find a third exit. You can’t keep a good dog down!
We’ll see. I’m guessing the humans will win, but it could be a game for a while. 😀
it is really hard to stop dogs from digging out after they learn they can. we had a neighbor that had two bird dogs, no matter what they did, they could get out, over the top and under the fence. they ended up putting electric fence at bottom and top and even then they got out once in a while. but that was back in 1970.. there might be something else now. that is nice fence, hope they can keep then inside it. beautiful pups
I’m guessing it will work after some testing by the pups. 🙂
Like that fireplace! a perfect dog pampering area. The people are probably happy with it too…..
You have that right, the pups are pampered, as they should be. 😀
