The subject of three-way calls came up the other day, and it turns out even our little flip phones can do them. I downloaded our user guide and it told us how easy it is to do. We’re unlikely to use it, but it was fun to try it and to see how it worked. (We used our two mobile phones and our landline.)
The other thing we did was to learn to host a Zoom meeting. I’ve been reading about Zoom a lot lately, and Kaitlin uses it all the time for work, so this afternoon I looked up the instructions on the internet and hosted a meeting between my iPad and my laptop. Then when Andy came home we had another meeting between the two of us so he could see what it was like. He said he was glad we did it, now he knows what poor Kaitlin has to put up with. Needless to say, we’re not likely to use it much ourselves. We’ll stick to emails, phone calls, and blogging.
If you’re interested, here’s a video of how to get started:

Have you used Zoom? If so, what did you think of it?

We’ve never used Zoom and don’t really need to. Like you, we’re happy with emails and phone calls. But for people at work, it seems to be a godsend.
Or for people with grandchildren.
tried out visiting with Creative Fibre coffee/chat session x twice. I found they were just as clicky as they are real time…if I was struggling to have online connections at this point in time (I’m not) then I might feel it was a great way to connect…but for me time out from realtime sessions is very nice…
Yes, I agree with Nick, it’s saved many businesses that lost of communication for sure…
Yes, in some cases it’s very useful.
Mom has never initiated a Zoom meeting, but she has joined several. She had her doctor’s visit via Zoom. The whole family gets together on Sundays – 14 of us – to visit and then play games. They have done Family Feud and Scattergories. Today they played Bingo. It is a lot of fun as long as you don’t have to be the one setting it up:)

I’m happy that you can connect with your large family. That’s priceless. 🙂
I have not had need of it, but I plant to watch the video you share at a later point…just had not thought to look it up myself.
I didn’t watch the video, but the instructions online were simple. The main thing is if you host you have to set up an account, which is free for most personal users.
I need to learn how to do it just because my doctor uses it and a zoom appointment for minor things makes sense and could save me driving in the winter in the future.
That’s an excellent use of the technology!
I signed up for it on my laptop but have never used it. Guess I don’t need it either.
A lot of people don’t, but it’s invaluable for some.
I’ve heard about zoom but have never used it. I really have no need for it.
You live close to yor family, which helps a lot.
