Falling Trees

One of the aftermaths of the fire was all the falling dead trees. Here are some 2016 pictures of Andy’s newly planted evergreens after a windstorm. They narrowly missed getting destroyed by the falling trees:

So when one of the trees on Beate and Tim’s property looked as if it could do serious damage when it fell, Beate, Tim, and Andy safely removed it last Friday. All of Beate’s pictures are here in Flickr.

As Tim and Andy slowly sawed they kept tension on the tree to make sure it would fall in a safe direction.

Nice work!

I have never been where a forest fire has been…and hope I never am. Was any of the wood usable?

  2. It’s really sad the widespread and long-lasting damage that fire did. Glad the little trees seem to be thriving.

  3. maybe we need to consider another type of season – named dead tree season…it seems to me to start just as your summer pops up…

We have plenty of pictures of trees across the road in winter too. 😀

It depends on how windy it is, but there haven’t been nearly as many falling the last year or so. Apparently the weakest ones are already down…presumably there will be a lot more as time goes on.

Nice work doing a dangerous job. Those tiny pines wouldn’t have stood a chance.

I watched a guy cut down a large tree in a neighbors yard a while back. It was pretty impressive how he did it. The two houses it sat between were pretty close but it got it down without incident.

So glad the tree is down and that it was done safely. Good job well done! The tiny trees are so cute I hope they’re growing bigger day by day day

I answered this one last night, but somehow i didn’t post it. Some of the little trees survived, some got killed by deer rubbing their antlers to get the velvet off.

There’s a sizable forest fire burning down around Tucson right now. The night photos with the fire burning across the mountain while thousands of houses seem right below are very scarey.

    • Jean says:

Yes, they are very scary. We had to evacuate from our apartment down here twice. The first fire in 2000 burned a number of buildings in town but our land wasn’t affected. the second one spared the town but wiped out our buildings and all except one of our trees.
