Andy drove down to Albuquerque to get the brush cutter this morning. After having lunch here he drove up to the land to start trying it out. He carefully followed the instructions for putting in the oil and gas and for starting the machine, but it got flooded and wouldn’t start. He’ll try again tomorrow. The problem is the fuel-to-air ratio is too high for our altitude, and hopefully by adjusting the choke he can get it to work. There are no guarantees, but it’s worth a shot.
He would like to see if this kind of cutter is even helpful. Lifelong learning.

high altitude. it affects more than we realize. even in baking recipes!
hope it works tomorrow.
I was well aware of the effect on baking, but this is the first time I knew about gas engines!
they say you learn something new everyday – I really didn’t believe you that a simple thing (okay not simple) as a brush cutter wasn’t geared to accept every altitude…
Apparently there is at least one brand that is, but it’s half again as heavy as this one, and that could be a big problem.
It will be interesting to see how this all works out. Like the others I didn’t realize that altitude would have an effect on a machine like that.
Andy’s seeing if he can get it to work as is, and I’m looking into finding that jet. See the next post.
I find it amazing all the information about how altitude affects things, Jean. I guess I never really thought about it before. I’ve always read the cooking instructions, pertaining to altitude, but I guess I never paid much attention. Hope Andy gets his brush cutter started today. Love, Andrea xoxo
He says it ran but “needs fixing.” And I’m working on finding the part.
Geez! Andy seems to have the patience to deal with this, but I would be pulling out my hair by now.
We’ve had plenty of experience with things that don’t go as easily as we would like. 🙂
I think they should take it back if it won’t work it won’t work and they did tell you it could be adjusted. Did you try to return it
See the next post, we haven’t given up.
We hope he has better luck this time. He is a persistent person 🙂
Thanks for all your kind words to welcome Misty home.

I’m so glad you have Misty back. That was a lot of persistence on your part too!
