So how did the ground squirrel get inside the net?

There was a gap between the ends of the hardware cloth Andy had buried to protect the tree:

That problem is more easily fixed than some, thank goodness.

  1. Dear Squirrel,

Hope you enjoyed the few cherries? I don’t need an answer to this letter, because when you return, your casual entrance way has been added to. i.e. I’ve added another piece of wired-material.

Oh, and thanks for coming by and having me spend some time debating and fixing. I’m always in need of a challenge. But you should scoot off some place else, cause I’m marked your number!

Safe journey to your next food station…off my land, pretty please
    Andy

And, the culprit found the opening. Amazing.

  3. That’s a crafty little squirrel but looks like Andy is one step ahead of him

I am glad the mystery is solved.

I thought of you today….I was sitting down a few minutes outside and Bubbie my cat started complaining. I looked at him and he was looking up at the roof, and there was a squirrel standing there at the edge on the gutter looking at me.

  7. Ginny Hartzler says:

They are clever. If there is a way, they will find it! I am glad you found out how he did it, and you can fix it.

  8. Madsnapper says:

Glad this one was an easy fix! I forget that when you live where there’s wild Critters you have to do things that I’ve never thought of before. Like covering a tree with net. Bobby said sit in the yard and threatened to shoot the squirrels that we’re eating our grapefruit and avocados. He never did though

  9. Bruce Taylor says:

Jean, thanks again for the Funnies. And good for Andy . . I could use him here today to fix my garage door opener but luckily a technician is on the way.

    • Jean says:

Hurray for people who fix things. I wish our management would find someone to fix a lot of our washing machines. 😀

  10. nick says:

Squirrels are my favourite animals, but there’s no denying they can be bloody nuisances, finding ingenious ways of raiding bird feeders, fruit trees or whatever.
