When Andy went to the doctor Thursday morning he didn’t take his cell phone. When he wasn’t back by noon, I wasn’t worried, but I thought I should check to see if we should cancel the appointment for our flu shots. I phoned the doctor’s office but no one answered even after I waited on hold for a while. OK, I figured maybe it was lunch time, so I phoned back after 1 P.M. Still no answer, so instead of leaving a message I decided to go down in person. First I phoned the number for canceling or rescheduling our shots, and the woman said there was no hurry, I wouldn’t be messing them up if I waited.
The nice thing is the doctor and the hospital are about 0.6 miles, two minutes, down the road. So I went there with Andy’s cellphone and talked to the nurse. She said Andy was getting his MRI and would be coming back to the office when he got out… so everything was well and I went home.
He had the receptionist phone when he got back to the office around 3. They wanted him to wait for the radiologist report but he hadn’t eaten and remembered the flu shots so he came home.
It was really nice to be so close to the office and hospital!

You seem to be more patient than I would be. Good for you!
Thank you π
definitely a plus to be close to services…
Yes. π
I agree!
To think that surgeon tried to bully me into getting my chemo at a hospital almost 2 hours away.
My oncologist is at the Cancer Center which if thereβs not a lot of traffic, I can get there in 8 minutes!
(Iβm glad Andy came home xo)
I’m so glad you didn’t listen to the surgeon. You’re going through too much to have that added burden.
I would loving being closer to doctors and the hospital.
I don’t take that for granted.
Just one of the blessings of living in a small town!
Yes! I’m also two minutes from my dentist, in the opposite direction.
yes, being close is nice. My doctors office is right behind my house. I can just walk up through the back yard. The hospital on the other hand is a bit further. That’s about a half hour drive
If it’s serious the hospital sends patients to hospitals from a half hour to two hours away. That’s not so nice.
God bless always.
Thank you.
so glad this turned into a happy ending story. a little scary even just reading it. we are 4 minutes from the hospital and 3 to 5 minutes from every doctor and 2 other hospitals. of course we were 45 minutes from the eye surgeon, but that doc we will hopefully never see again. oops forgot, one month check up coming mid sept.
You’re in better shape than we are. Andy will have to go to Santa Fe for the specialist and spinal tap. They will each be at least 45 minutes away. And every few months he has to go to get his eyes treated in Santa Fe, also at least 45 minutes away.
It is so nice to be close to things…so good you could easily go and ease your mind.
Yes. In this case it was really nice. If we need specialists we often have to go the Santa Fe, at least 45 minutes away.
We’re only about 15 minutes from our hospital and most of our doctors and, yes, it is a comfort.
You are in great shape too. π
When we moved almost 14 years ago we are at least a 45 minute ride to appointments. We love our doctor so we stayed with him. Of course as the years have moved forward we now have more appointments! Glad you are close by.
Keeping Andy in my prayers.
We’re now sometimes having to go at least 45 minutes away for specialists. As you say, the frequency is increasing with time. π
When I was a young girl, my uncle, my mother’s brother, was a doctor who actually made home visits – remember those days. We lived in a two family house on the upper floors. He had his office in part of the first floor living space where he lived with his wife and daughter. Now THAT was really convenient:)
That is convenient! π
