Andy says it got down to 26°F up there. Here are two pictures of the greenhouse taken yesterday:
Even though the greenhouse isn’t winterized (one intake and one exit vent insulated) the temperature didn’t get low enough to hurt the plants. Andy doesn’t yet know how the fruit trees fared.
We will soon see.

Too cold too fast!
I hate it getting cold!
I’m sure it will warm up again before winter comes for real.
So this is your greenhouse. Is it just for you, or do you sell the things you grow? It is very nice, and must be in a great place for the sun.
It’s just for us, and for Kaitlin and Torben in the future. They’re the ones who suggested it.
NO……….this too early, you are supposed to be my opposite season, and we have only just started Spring which should be your Autumn!
Not to panic, it will warm up again. π
It’s in the 60s here right now and I’m so ready for a cool down!! Love the view of the green house
It is refreshing, especially because it will warm up a bit.
It makes me cold just looking at that picture. Nice that the greenhouse stayed warm enough for all the plants growing in there.
It’s still doing its thing. π
talk about instant cool down! wow! we cooled down for waking up to 78 instead of 82… but still going to 90’s.. hope all the plants are ok. will you heat it for the winter?
Probably not this winter, Andy wants to see how it does without added heat.
Great looking structure! I, too, am wondering if you’ll have any means of heat in the coming months.
We have a little heater in it but Andy wants to see how well the greenhouse does without using it. The greenhouse was built as a season extender, not to be used all year, but it did a lot better than expected last winter.
At least the early snow might make keep the landscape up there wet enough to prevent some fires? I hope so! So sad how many states are dealing with those right now.
Those fires are heartbreaking. The weather here did help the local fire fighters.
Cold…
You may be in a high altitude…
Good luck with the fruit trees.
Yes, we’re at 7200 feet down here in the apartment, and almost 9,000 feet by the house.
Wow! Burr…..
Yes. It’s a bit of a shock when it happens so suddenly,
Yes, our temperature was in the low 70’s the past couple of days but headed back up today.
The low 70s is so much nicer. π
Not my idea of fun ??
Do you often get cold snaps this early?
I suppose itβs the same as us getting a hot 30c/85f day in late winter…..only Iβd welcome that ?
This is unusually early for a cold snap.
Hard to believe there’s snow there…I think I woul like to just sit in that greenhouse and enjoy the view.
It’s even warmer in the house. π
