Tempi

Tempi is a very smart, thoughtful, and mostly good-natured pup. She does love to sit in chairs, couches, and other high places. At home she’s allowed to climb on the furniture, but that’s often a no-no when she visits her grandparents.

Sitting on the rocking chair on the porch was all right.

But she isn’t supposed to sit on the couch, even though the view there is better for her when she’s inside. Once when she tested the rule, she was told to get down. OK, no problem, she just hopped on the table. The view was better from there anyway.

I should point out that now when she sits on the rocking chair inside no one objects.

She’s smart enough to realize that humans aren’t consistent and rules can change. So a smart pup will check from time to time.

  1. Laughed out loud at her sitting on the table. How can you be mad?
She got out of the chair.

Has her parents thought to train her that she can only sit on a special little blanket of her own that can be placed on couches, chairs, spots on the floor…where ever she’s allowed? Helps when visiting because you take the blanket and designate her one place (high) where she’s allowed. The two dogs we had before Levi were really good at following the blanket rule and they went to their “grandma’s” house often.

Your last paragraph… gospel! The look on Tempi’s face while in the rocker is so precious. But oh man! That vista she’s enjoying from the table top? More please! πŸ™‚

    she is so wonderful!
the table sitting still cracks me up!
she just wanted to enjoy the VIEW you guys!
and somehow she looks so noble about it. kind of like a queen.
they’re BOTH beautiful! remember when she walked up the attic stairs?
now how many dogs do that???!!!
so far Zoe hasn’t picked up too many Tempi habits it seems! lol
ps.. do you think you have enough collars on her Mom and Dad? LOLOL!

    • Kaitlin says:

I know about the collars… we were trying two different GPS trackers there. The ticks were so bad this spring they have tick collars now too!

The attic post is coming. πŸ™‚

They don’t call Tempi “The Princess” for nothing. She does look regal at times.

    She’s such a cool dog!

  5. Ginny Hartzler says:

Oh my goodness, she is so cute! She sits up on furniture just like she is a human! We had a cat who did that.

  6. Joared says:

Quite elegant poses. Interesting that she likes being up high. Perhaps she’s just mimicking her family who all sit in chairs. We had a dog who shocked neighbors to spy on them when they saw her perched on a tree branch that overlooked them that she had climbed out on in our yard.

  7. Tempi doesn’t even look like a normal, “I’m going to sit/lie on the couch/chair” dog – but rather a regal upstanding upright kind of hu-man…keeping an eye on any human or whatever they are doing “out there…” almost a protective security system.

    • Kaitlin says:

It is funny you said that, as her new vet made a similar comment. Said she was one of the best behaved sweetest dogs who kept a tight eye on you to make sure you behave too. He didn’t say Zoe was one of the best behaved, although he did say she was sweet and good.

  8. Ann Thompson says:

That is too funny especially about checking the rules from time to time. The one of her on the table made me laugh

  9. Hootin' Anni says:

Now, THAT is priceless. Okay, no couch sitting, I’ll just sit on the table! I LOVE HER (and her determination).

  10. Sandra Hangey says:

Maybe she has a little feline in her dna. ha ha.. she is beautiful and really smart and i enjoyed my LOL moment at her sitting on the table. she must like the elevated views from inside, but outside the view doesnt change. all dogs check rules … Big is allowed on any and all furniture but not our bed.. when the thunder booms he is allowed to sleep with us though, it is that or get up myself. I love theperfect sit on the stump

  11. Precious!!!

    And smart!!!!!

    Loved the sit~on~table!!!

    Who says dogs can’t “think”?

  12. Adorable, the pictures are so darn cute.

  13. Rose says:

She showed them! That is just priceless.

    • Jean says:

I’m not sure she was trying to show them, she wanted to sleep on the couch and was willing to patiently follow the rules. She knew the rule even though Kaitlin had forgotten it.
