Tempi and the Pink Blanket

I’ve told this story before, but it’s worth repeating.

Tempi and Zoe didn’t seem to have trouble understanding that the rule about getting on furniture depended on whose house you were at. But it was probably confusing when Torben’s sister got a new pup and the pup was allowed on the furniture at Torben’s folks’ place. Was that a new rule for everyone?

So Tempi went over to the couch, making sure Kaitlin was watching, and looked at Kaitlin. Kaitlin said no, still no couch. So Tempi went over to the ottoman, which had a pink blanket on it, and she put her paw on the blanket and looked at Kaitlin. Kaitlin said that as long as Tempi was on the blanket it was all right. OK, the ottoman was better than nothing.

Later in the evening Kaitlin forgot about the pink-blanket rule and moved it to the couch. Tempi remembered and took a well-deserved snooze.

Intelligence and patience is a powerful combination.

We should add that this is my special blanket. I am not sure quite how it started, but that is my Michigan blanket. T’s Mom gave it to us to bring Zoe home after her lung issues. This blanket is a thing! I love this blanket. This girl is smart!

    What well behaved pets!

  5. Tempi is not a DOG …. a sensitive and intelligent “hu-man” who just happens to have been given a permanent fur coat! And an ordinary other dog with a different set of brains, Zoe

I love Tammy’s comment, about Kaitlin being trained well. ha ha.. love this story and love Tempi and wish I could hug her. so sweet on the sofa… we had cloth sofas through 3 dogs, when we got the 4th and had 3 at a time, we ditched the cloth and went to Leather and that was 15 years ago. easy cleanup… that means we are well trained also

Sarah has a tied quilt that I made her when she was still in highschool. Whatever it is on, Otto considers it fair game. Which is what it is/was generally for. I am not sure he gets up on it now…he is getting so old and gray that it breaks my heart.
