I Voted!

I voted in person Friday and got my little sticker. Apparently I could have gotten an absentee ballot, filled it out, and dropped it off at the booth they had outside the building. I didn’t check, but I’m guessing they offered stickers too.

Apparently I’m not the only one who feels good about voting and enjoys the tradition of getting the sticker. A recent Boston Globe article says a lot of people who voted absentee were upset that their sticker wasn’t included with the ballot. In many cases they got their sticker if they dropped their ballot off at official drop-off places, but not if they mailed them. I think it’s encouraging that so many of us feel that strongly about voting.

We both voted absentee and dropped them at the Post Office. We could also have dropped them off at a number of official drop boxes, mainly at our local libraries. No stickers in our envelope either. But the important thing is that we voted.

    K.

  2. I voted by absentee ballot, then dropped it off at our country clerk’s office, to their box outside. Then I tracked it on-line a few days later to be sure it was recorded as dropped off. I’ll track it again on election day to be sure it was opened and counted. I’m not sure if all states have the tracking but mine started it with the last election and this is the first time I’ve done it.

I have quite a collection of stickers, but likely none with my absentee this year.

I don’t save mine, but they do reinforce that wonderful feeling. But thanking the poll workers and celebrating with a post works too. 🙂

Congratulations! We voted absentee, and did not get any stickers. That’s alright, as long as our votes are counted.

  5. congratulations

here in New Zealand, a number of things were missing – I believe we had a kind of sticker but that was gone. But what was in place was a “cheap pen” that you got to keep, no label on it though. And then there was the “tracer app to be clicked on, and sanitiser both for in/out” many to guide you, keeping everyone well apart…

of course everything is “done and dusted now” and apparently record numbers of voters. I met 2 people who voted this year, both not done from over 20 years!

I got two stickers. I thought one came with my absentee ballot but maybe not. The second one came from dropping the ballot off at city hall’s drive up facility.

Way to go. I was reading the comments and now I’m wondering if all states have the vote tracking. That would be nice to be able to see and verify that your vote was counted.

I think having paper ballots…we mark ours and feed them into the machine so they are there if there is any question…plus being able to track our ballots if we drop them off or mail them in would be fantastic.

  8. Hootin' Anni says:

We haven’t rec’d our ballots in the mail yet. If we don’t…guess we go stand in line.

  9. Grace says:

Ah those little stickers! One was enclosed with my mail-in ballot. I vote for everything I get the opportunity to vote for – just being a good citizen.

  10. Madsnapper says:

I am thinking each state for each County must do different things because our sticker came in our absentee ballot when it came in the mail it was already in there. So we had it when we drop Towers off the first day we could I think was 3 weeks ago

    • Jean says:

Yes, each state does it differently. Apparently some have voting machines that have no paper record, so there is no way to check afterwards if the coding worked fairly. I like the idea of paper ballots for everyone and a way of checking mailed/dropped off ballots to make sure they were counted.

Yesssss! We’re still planning on going to the polls Nov. 3.

  12. I got a sticker with my mail in ballot. We started doing mail in years ago because my husband traveled often. I like being able to vote at home and now with covid I try not to leave my house very often.
