In Massachusetts Kaitlin and Torben put their tree in the porch so the neighbors can see it too.
And they hung Tempi’s and Zoe’s stockings by the fireplace:
Here in NM Andy put the Christmas tree on the roof yesterday.
The lights will be on (via a timer) from December 19 through New Year’s Day. They will be visible across the valley from the Cochiti Mesa Road.
Kaitlin and Torben have a BIG tree!!! That’s a great spot for it too. We love the tree on the roof and wish we lived close enough to see it:)
I’m impressed by K and T’s tree too. Andy’s is fun. 🙂
They have a lovely glassed-in porch! Oh, it looks so scary way up on the roof to be putting a tree there! The picture above your mantel is fantastic!!!
I love that picture above the fireplace too. It makes the room warm and friendly.
Now I really need to get Macie and Grace their own stockings.
I love this spirit of sharing … both in Massachusetts and up on your land. Joy to the world!
Yes, this poor old world can use a lot more joy. That’s why so many people are starting to decorate early.
With two big dogs in the house it was smart to put the tree on the porch, also keep it fresher longer.
That painting over the fireplace is awesome.
Yes on both counts. 🙂
I’m worried about Andy clambering around on that roof!
I stopped worrying long ago…it was a waste of time. He does try to be careful.
If I had a covered porch I would put a tree there too. That’s a great idea. Andy sure is brave climbing up on the roof to put that tree there.
I agree…that porch is a great place for the tree. And you’ll never catch Kaitlin, Torben or me putting the tree up there. Even when we’re there when he does it the most we do is go partway up the ladder and hand him stuff.
It’s very novel to put your Christmas tree on the roof. Nobody here has tried that idea! Does it attract birds?
People here have also been putting up their decorations early. It does provide a bit of pleasure in a very bleak situation.
We don’t see many birds in the winter…no food for them.
I have got to get on computer after while to see better…lovecthe kids’ tree. I love just lights. What I want to get onncomouter for is to see the fireplace shot better…
I would like to be where I coukd see the roof top tree.
The pictures do show up better on a bigger screen. 🙂
How awesome is the tree on the roof!!! I love the whole concept. And bravery climbing up to place it there!!
The tree in the glassed-in patio is beautiful too!
Bravery or not much sense? 🙂 Anyway, he loves doing it and I want him to be happy.
a super idea to put the tree on the porch. wow on the tree on the roof, the wow is because of the ladder i see that he had to climb to do that. i can’t even get bob to touch a christmas decoration of any kind, neither did my dad.
This was his idea. We experimented a bit in 2015 to get the lights to show. Here are just a few posts about it:

Ahhhh, Christmas Trees are up, in both parts of your family!!!!! -smile-
Yes!
I love, how lights of both, can be enjoyed by others. Seeing lights in the homes of others, is a Joy to me, at this time. Although I can’t really see many. We live across from a little woods, which we love! But no houses, on the other side of the street, as is usual. -smile-
Perhaps this is why I love Hallmark Christmas Movies so much!!!! The decorations. Well, of course that is why! I can watch, with no sound or plot… Just drink in the decorations. -smile-
Some one of these days I’ll have to watch one…presumably I will have to subscribe to the Hallmark Channel. Right now I’m watching the Great Courses Plus History of the United States. Not nearly as heartwarming. 😀
